Teofimo Lopez was born on July 30, 1997 in Brooklyn, New York to Honduras immigrants. Teofimo Lopez’s father, Teófimo López Sr., started training him at the age of 6.
Teofimo López competed in the men’s lightweight event at the 2016 Summer Olympics, representing Honduras, where he was defeated in the tournament by eventual silver medalist Sofiane Oumiha.
