The Old Taylor might not be dead after all. Her fashion, at least, has certainly been revived.
To tease new possible content due out Friday, Taylor Swift has changed her Instagram aesthetic and fashion style to a spring-focused pastel palette. Gone are the edgy snakes and black-and-white color scheme she employed during her Reputation era (that album was released in November 2017).
Swift is bringing back a flower fairy look that evokes her Speak Now era — notable since fans are speculating that a countdown she posted on social media, ending on April 26, will have something to do with her Speak Now song “The Story of Us.” The tune is four minutes and 26 seconds long (the date of her countdown “4.26”), and the Grammy winner teased a “next chapter” coming soon, which plays into the lyrics of “The Story of Us.” Fans also noticed it was the only Swift song on Spotify to not have its image replaced with the pink branding of what they expect to be her seventh album.

This week’s flowery looks helped establish Swift’s next creative aesthetic. The tulle and sequin gowns fit the colors of other items posted on her Instagram page, from sparkly heart jewelry to pink briefcases to a baby-blue bike that tease her new content. Fans should expect to see a lot more pastel come Friday, when Swift could release the lead single of her next album.
