I am stuck in this vicious cycle of my own making. I DIY my own nail extensions (and I’ve learned to do it well, so they really stick), but then I get bored of the gel design and rip them off so I can start over. I could end it at any time by doing the proper acetone-soak-off technique, but truthfully that requires more willpower than I have. In between my nail extension manicures, I have to rehab my nails with a wardrobe of nail treatments and concealers. I thought I had found the end-all-be-all of nail concealers — until I recently tried Londontown’s Perfecting Nail Veil and discovered there’s a tie for first place.

Londontown is the brand behind an incredibly popular nail concealer that went viral and sold out quite a few times. I like that one, but I think people should be refocusing their attention on its Perfecting Nail Veil, which I find to be even more effective.

The Perfecting Nail Veil is a nail serum and concealer with a hint of color wrapped into one small bottle. It comes in eight shades, including nudes, pinks, and reds, all of which are in stock at Amazon and Nordstrom. You can snag the pink-white shade (which I currently have on my nails) on sale right now for $15 on Amazon.

The crux of the treatment aspect of this formula is alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs). It seems the well-known skincare ingredient has benefits that extend past your face. One study found that glycolic acid (a type of AHA) improved the condition of “thick, uneven, rough and pigmented” nails. There is also biotin which, according to another study, improves the brittleness of nails.

As for the pigment, it’s very sheer and buildable. Many of the shades are natural-looking and the ones that aren’t (like the cherry red) have a jam/jelly-like sheerness to them. One swipe of the Nail Perfecting Veil and my nails no longer feel like the stairs in a dilapidated building. They feel smooth, and my natural nail color is even with stains and imperfections concealed. Two coats make this Londontown nail treatment look a little bit more like an actual polish, but still very subtle and demure.

Head to Nordstrom and Amazon to shop Londontown’s Perfecting Nail Veil, including the on-sale pink-white shade
