Julia Louis-Dreyfus is sadly mourning the loss of her father.
The 55-year-old star tragically revealed her dad, William Louis-Dreyfus, recently died at age 84 during her Outstanding Lead Actress Emmys acceptance speech on Sunday, Sept. 18.

“I’d like to dedicate this to my father, who passed away on Friday, [Sept. 16]. I’m so glad that he liked Veep because his opinion was the one that really mattered,” Julia said while holding back tears.

The mom-of-two won her fifth consecutive Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Selina Meyer on the hit HBO series Veep. This is Julia’s eighth career Emmy and 22nd nomination.
