Location

Anambra is a state in Nigeria, located in the southeastern region of the country. It is bounded by Delta State to the west, Imo State to the south, Enugu State to the east and Kogi State to the north.

Population

According to the 2006 census, Anambra state had a population of 4,177,821. However, an estimate by the Anambra State Government in 2020 provides that the population has grown to over 5,000,000.

History Timeline

Anambra state was first formed in 1976 from the northern half of East-Central state. In 1991, it was considerably reduced in area by an administrative reorganisation that created the new state of Enugu.
