The Connecticut Sun improved their WNBA-best record to 11-1 with an 83-75 victory over the Chicago Sky on Wednesday at Wintrust Arena in Chicago.

Chicago trailed by as many as 13 points in the fourth quarter before guard Diamond DeShields trimmed the deficit to just four, 79-75, on a three-pointer with 28 seconds on the clock. But Sun forward DeWanna Bonner sank four straight free throws to stave off the comeback bid.

It was yet another game in which Sky fans could at least look at the performances of their young stars and envision what this squad can achieve in another year or two.

Angel Reese extended her double-double streak to four contests, finishing with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Kamilla Cardoso, who's no longer on a minutes restriction, had 10 points, nine rebounds and three blocks. Chennedy Carter scored 10 points off the bench.

Reese in particular had social media buzzing, with some calling her the standout from the WNBA's 2024 draft class so far.

With that rebound, Angel Reese becomes the first WNBA 2024 rookie to notch 100+ points and 100+ rebounds in this young season!

It's an honor to watch Angel Reese attack the offensive glass. You can't stop me from making a dumb guy comparison to Rodman.

Angel Reese is playing the best ball end to end out of all of the rookies so far.

Cardoso was great tonight. As she continues to get into game shape, it's all about attention to detail for her.

For Angel Reese, she's got a very high basketball iq so she's been extremely impactful early on. Her first 20 & 10 game tonight. #WNBA

I've been saying that Angel Reese can be a 20/10 chick! Lots of good things in this game. The Sky just need to cut down on the turnovers & get more pure scoring! #WNBA

This was always going to be a rebuilding year for the Sky, one which their best hope was that they'd identify the pieces that will form the foundation for their next phase of playoff contention. The early returns on Reese and Cardoso are exactly what you'd want in that respect.

Chicago has a great opportunity to add two wins before the week is out. The Sky hit the road to play the 1-12 Washington Mystics on Friday and then head to Indianapolis for a date with the 3-10 Indiana Fever on Sunday.

The latter will pit Reese and Carter against Caitlin Clark for their first meeting since Carter's flagrant foul on the No. 1 overall pick sparked days of discourse.
